Netcat Containers and Pluggable Web Applications (PWAs) turn your WCM into a Portal. Simply, they allow non-technical authors to assemble complementary information from multiple sources - the CRM system, other websites, a MS-Access database etc - and dynamically display the latest composite information in their web page(s).

Netcat Containers
These are pre-built components that are used in creating web pages. These containers can contain or manage formats, content and functions or, in the case of PWA containers, executable programs.

Format containers
Unlike most WCM systems that require 20 or more hard-coded templates, most Netcat sites requires only 2 or 3 templates and a selection of re-usable containers. For example: An author wishing to include Footers, Top of page buttons, Table of contents etc, would simply drag and drop the relevant container into a webpage.

Content containers
Content containers contain static or dynamic content.  For example: An author wishing to include a list of News highlights or the latest Press releases, would simply drag the appropriate container from the library.

Functional Containers
Functional containers contain executable code and are used by authors for running Javascript or Netcat programs within Netcat such as a Clock or generating an RSS feed.

Pluggable Web Applications
These are containers that run programs inside your webpage.

Simply, each container contains executable code that interfaces with third-party applications to dynamically deliver contextual and up-to-date information to the webpage from the external source.  eg.  the latest Stock market or foreign exchange data in an analyst’s report.

Netcat PWAs can act as a unifying technology in heterogeneous environments.  In essence, they deliver considerable Portal functionality without the price tag.
