Regional Council chooses Netcat

Regional Council chooses Netcat for Knowledge Management

NSW Local Government Authority, Mid-Western Regional Council has selected the Netcat Web Content Management (WCM) software and consulting services to facilitate a Knowledge Management strategy for the Council. The strategy has been initiated in order to capture, classify, manage, and distribute the vast amount of information available within the Council including that residing in the experience of Council staff.

The Council has defined knowledge management as “…the discipline that helps spread knowledge of individuals or groups across organisations in ways that directly affect performance. Knowledge Management envisions getting the Right Information within the Right Context to the Right Person at the Right Time for the Right Business Purpose.”

The project will involve implementation of a new Intranet to address the internal information needs of Council as well as redeveloping the public website www.mudgee.nsw.gov.au in order to address constituent needs. The aims of the project include improving process efficiency and service delivery.

Netcat is no newcomer to the local government sector having delivered many WCM solutions to Councils over the last 5 years including Brisbane City Council, Adelaide City Council, Hobart City Council, Manningham City Council, and Snowy River Shire Council, amongst others. Netcat sees Local Government Authorities as being quite innovative in their use of the web to promote their regions and provide interactive services to their constituents, especially for those people who cannot attend Council’s premises personally.
